Chennaifoodie’s blog has been something which I have been following for quite sometime for all his food reviews. After reading his recent review about Dosa Calling in Mylapore, I decided to try it out on a Thursday evening. (23 Dec 10 at around 7 P.M.)
I parked my car right in front of the entrance with not much help from the security guard. Walked right in to feel a very bright interior akin to any international fast food joint, with mission statements pertaining to their quality of food and the friendliness of staff.
There were about 30 tables in total and about 4 were occupied including mine, and close to 12 waiters who were all lost in front of a billing machine. After a patient waiting time of 10 minutes someone gave me the menu. The menu is predominantly Dosa and South Indian fare, and also some naan, roti varieties. After much thought I chose the order the ‘Mysore Masala Dosa’ something which I hardly find in menu cards here in Chennai.
Some more confusion, and 2 different waiters took the order, the manager came a good 10 minutes later and asked me if I wanted something. (Wonder what happens when all tables are full) Anyways, I was waiting for my order and it came finally. The plate typically was like the one on the photo on top (no brainer) but, it was plain masala dosa. I was confused and called on the waiter if he’s mixed up orders who was confident that mine was indeed mysore masala and was not plain masala, as it has a topping of garlic over the regular masala. I had enough! quitely finished the dosa paid up the 48 bucks for the not so good masala dosa.
I have been craving for a good mysore masala dosa in Chennai, ever since Shivas restaraunt in Adyar closed down. Surprising, Saravana Bhavan, Sangeetha etc is not offering it.
